- Children aged 12 months to 18 months who receive private lessons for 30 mins per week are able to swim confidently in around a year and half. However, formal strokes are difficult for infants with less developed motor skills.
- Children between 2 and 3 years old who receive private lessons for 30 mins per week are able to swim confidently in 12 months.
- Children 3+ who take private lessons for 30 mins per week can expect to be able swim in 6 months, or 20-30 hours.
These estimates assume that your child can swim 25m without stopping at the end of the time period. It can take children 2-3 years to master strong swimming, which is to say, they must be able to swim 100m without stopping.
