You can wear whatever you like, but your baggy, palm-tree-adorned shorts or cut-out designer swimsuit may be too much. You won’t be irritated if you choose something that doesn’t drag. You have a wide selection of purpose-made, tight fitting costumes. Check out brands like Speedo and Arena. Remember the three C’s: comfort, chlorine resistance, and confidence. You should feel comfortable in the clothes you wear, as it is easy to feel watched even when no one is looking, especially if you’re new to the pool.DO NOT JUST DIVE INTO THE FAST LANE. STRETCH!

You have just been swimming and are now back in your car. Stretching is a must. Start warming up in the changing rooms or at the pool side to get blood flowing. Next, start in the slow lane to get used to swimming before moving on to the faster and more intense lane. Remember to cool down afterward and get moving!

Do not try to keep your head above the water while swimming. This will cause you to spit and splutter, which can also slow down your breathing and be a problem for your spine. You’ve done a few lengths, and now you need to rest. Or you may have just completed one length, and need to get your breath back. You should stay at the edge of your pool, away from swimmers who are faster than you and allow them to move on. In a public pool there is no etiquette. However, be aware of your lane’s speed and avoid being in the way of swimmers who are faster than you.AVOID THOSE WHO ARE FFITTER THAN YOU

It takes dedication and time to exercise and stay fit. This is not an easy task. It’s not a New Year’s Resolution or Lent based sacrifice. It’s a weekly devotion. It will help you feel the mental and physical benefits, but don’t expect miracles. Don’t listen to the people in the fast lane, or the children in swimming lessons.
